Treatment information 

Here you will find a brief description on treatments we offer here at Diamond dental Sevenoaks, when treatment is required you should be made aware of all your options as in most cases there is more than one option. With every treatment comes pros and cons you should also be aware of these, at Diamond dental Sevenoaks we want our patients to fully understand all their options and what comes with those choices. If treatment is advised you will be given a treatment plan with all options and costing broken down for you to consider before making your decision. 

Implants 

What is an implant? An implant is a titanium screw that is placed into the jaw bone to replace a natural missing tooth root. The bone surrounding the implant then fuses to it with time this is called  Osseointegration, once this has happened the crown can be placed on top. 

Why would I want or need an implant? 
The reason someone would want or need an implant is to replace a missing tooth, the great thing about implants is that they are the most natural replacement, no damage or treatment is required on other teeth to place an implant. This is a great option if you are self conscious about a missing tooth or are struggling with daily eating and biting due to a missing tooth/teeth.  This treatment isn't always a option and you may be advised against it.

Clear Aligners 

What are clear aligners?  Clear aligners are a form of orthodontic (teeth straightening) treatment. A well known company most people know is Invisalign. 

Why would I want or need clear aligners? 
The main reason for most people wanting to straighten their teeth is due to them wanting to improve the appearance of their teeth, Clear aligners are a more discreet option over traditional fixed metal braces, this makes them more appealing to patients. You may in some cases need orthodontic treatment as well as want, this would be if the alignment of your teeth is effecting daily tasks such as biting correctly, chewing or being able to clean your teeth efficiently. It is important to know after any orthodontic (teeth straightening) treatment a retainer is required to be worn for life, or for as long as you want your teeth to stay in their correct position. Different types of retainers are available.  This treatment isn't always a option and you may be advised against it.

Root canal treatment (endodontic treatment)

What is root canal treatment?  Root canal treatment is the process of removing the nerves and the damaged pulp from the tooth. 


Why would I want or need a root canal (endodontic treatment) ? The reason for needing a root canal is when the tooth becomes infected, this can cause a lot of pain but it doesn't always need to. A few different reasons why a tooth may require root canal treatment - tooth decay, an injury to the tooth (high impact force), a cracked tooth, if a lot of treatment has been done previously on a tooth. The reason for wanting to choose this treatment option is to save the tooth, when a root canal is needed this is the only option to keep your tooth the alternative is to have the tooth removed. This treatment isn't always a option and you may be advised against it.

Dentures

What are Dentures?  Dentures are a removable appliance, these are an option to replace missing teeth. 

Why would I want or need dentures?
The reason for wanting or needing dentures is to replace missing teeth, if you are wanting to replace teeth that are missing due to appearance or daily struggles such as eating. If you are not wanting treatment that involves preparation on other teeth or implants then this is your option. There is different types of dentures such as acrylic, chrome and flexi dentures. The dentist will advise and assess which option is best for your case.  This treatment isn't always a option and you may be advised against it.

Tooth whitening 

What is tooth whitening?  
Tooth whitening is a dental bleaching treatment which then lightens the natural tooth colour. 

Why would I choose tooth whitening?  
Tooth whitening is for patients that simply want to whiten the colour of their teeth. Tooth whitening cannot whiten anything other than natural tooth, so it will not whiten composite, crowns, veneers or any other material other than natural tooth. There is different types of teeth whitening such as home whitening, in chair whitening and laser tooth whitening. This treatment isn't always a option and you may be advised against it.
